Happy Holidays & Joy to the World! The spirit of Christmas is all around, which is wonderful but can also be a little overwhelming. Have no fear, you are exactly where you are meant to be. I have some great tips and a yoga class to keep you joyful & present over the holiday weekend!
Tips to Be Present
TAKE CARE OF YOU FIRST: This is a task on a normal day and can be even more challenging when the holidays are on your mind. Like they say on the airplane “put your mask on first” and let’s take it a step further. Make the holidays special for you first and then let your joy flood to everyone else.
How do you make the holidays special for you? Ask yourself “how do I want to feel?” then “what will I do to feel that way?”. I got this trick from one of my favorite teachers Danielle LaPorte. Her 2018 planner is ROCKing my world. If you have not picked up a planner yet I highly recommend you get in alignment with your Core Desired Feelings by gifting yourself this amazing planner! Just know that you are going to love it SO much that maybe you buy more and let your joy overflow to a friend or two! (I am not sponsored or affiliated with this product in anyway… I am just totally obsessed with it) Okay rant over… But seriously figure out how you want to feel and do what you gotta do to feel that way!
GIVE YOURSELF THE GIFT OF TIME: Tune into you, this is especially important if you felt like “I don’t know what need to do to feel joy, this is why I am reading this”. I got you, don’t worry. This holiday season may have taken its toll on you, which is why you need to reconnect to yourself and listen to your inner guide.
My favorite ways to reconnect: yoga & meditation
Meditate: Sit in stillness (think Silent Night lol), just notice your thoughts as an observer. Things will come up, from your to-do-list to replaying past events or anticipation of future events (I have to wrap still, what about that guy who cut me off in the parking lot SO rudeeee, my in-laws are coming, damn I’m absolutely not doing this right). You are normal, you are doing it right! Breathe through that crazy crap and after your brain filters through it (this could take months of meditation practice but overtime) you will find some peace. Check out my video on How to Relax for more on how to meditate and chill the elF out!
Yoga: When in doubt yoga! Did you know the asana practice of movement was created to release energy before meditation? Most of the time I need to practice yoga before I can sit to meditate. There are even times when I try and meditate and I can’t drop in deeper than my crazy thoughts and that is okay! As my gift to you I created this 50 minute Festive Flow yoga class to help you reconnect to yourself! Give yourself the gift of your time, BE PRESENT!
I hope that this practice serves you & will hold you over since we will not be having our weekly Monday FB Live Yoga class – As I will be totally present with my family Christmas Day! Wishing you & yours LOTS of JOY & LOVE!
